This season, in collaboration with local photographer Amit Sihag, we took our signature Rue Puffer Jacket and Sadie Vest to the streets of Jaipur - the pink city where our maximalist outerwear is right at home.
Hear from Amit about the concept behind the shoot, the people involved and how it all came together.
What was the concept for this shoot?
The shoot concept aimed to capture the vibrant essence of Jaipur's streets, showcasing the city's lively atmosphere, diverse colours, and the everyday activities of its locals, reflecting the city's unique aesthetics and livelihood.
The shoot took place amidst the bustling streets of Jaipur, focusing on the daily routines and dedicated work of its people. We ventured into the vibrant flower market, a hub of activity where countless kilograms of flowers exchange hands daily. Additionally, we explored the narrow lanes around Hawa Mahal and various other locales to capture the city's dynamic essence.
Could you tell us a bit about the people in the shoot?
We shot in the historic places of Jaipur, capturing the daily lives of locals who spend most of their time working on the streets. We focused on individuals like an elderly man at the flower market, a woman selling vegetables nearby, friends chatting on street steps about how life and work, a young man selling buttermilk from a cart, and a passerby reading a newspaper near a temple. They all embraced wearing our jackets and eagerly posed for photos once they heard the story behind them.
How did you enjoy shooting street style in Jaipur?
It's always a pleasure to shoot for Boom Shankar. Capturing street style is my forte, and engaging with people at the grassroots level is what I truly enjoy. I appreciated the friendly atmosphere and lively conversations during the shoots, making the experience truly enjoyable. Looking forward to more collaborations in the future.
