3 Ways to style mustard fashion in winter

3 Ways to style mustard fashion in winter

It's week two of our fun Mix n Match Edit and this time we thought we'd get some of the Boom Noosaville girls to show us a few different ways to style the one piece... the Mustard District Jumper.

Mustard is a fabulous colour to wear as it goes with everything! It adds a great happy pop of colour to any outfit, but being more subdued than its sibling, The Yellow, mustard is a colour that suits all complexions (even though we personally think yellow does too) and symbolises the same colour meanings as yellow; creativity, warmth, diversity, optimism.

Let's see what pieces Portia, Breanna, Ajanta and Georgie have picked for their favourite winter Mix n Match looks....

Portia (above) is the Marketing Coordinator at Boom Shankar. For her Mix n Match ensemble she’s chosen to layer the Mustard District Jumper over the colourful and shimmery Manhattan Soho Shirt. She’s finished the outfit off by contrasting it with our Brooklyn East Long Skirt.

“I chose this outfit because I love a casual layered look. I don’t wear much tight fitting clothing and always tend to gravitate towards looser fit items so I really like how the boxy jumper and long skirt combo gives an oversized silhouette but is stylish and fun at the same time. I’m also on a bit of a vintage 70s vibe lately so the colour of the Mustard District Jumper is really working  for me! In terms of styling, a jumper is a key piece for me for winter. They are so versatile and most importantly, keep my cold frog body warm!!! While I’ve gone for the East Long Skirt in Brooklyn for this look I would also easily wear this jumper with jeans, over a dress or with a wide leg pant. It’s wool, cosy and nice and warm!” ~ Portia

Breanna (above) is our Website & Digital Marketing Coordinator at Boom Shankar. Her Mix n Match styling is quite smart (I think) and the contrasting patterns give the outfit a little edge. Breanna is wearing our Mustard District Jumper under last winters Memento Wrap Dress in Pepper - that can be worn 2 ways! - and finished the look off with the Empire Tribeca Jacket. I like how she’s also styled it with matching mustard shoes. Colour pops are the best!!

“I chose this outfit because I love a wrap dress, I find the cut of this dress to be very flattering as it accentuates my waist. During the winter months, I like to wear a colourful jumper underneath the dress. This helps to elevate the look with a pop of colour and keeps me warm. The Mustard District jumper is incredibly soft and cosy, I like how the material is not too thick and can be layered underneath jackets. I tied the look together with a pair of mustard heels, I think brown ankle boots would also look cute!" ~ Breanna

Ajanta (above) is the Community Content Curator at Boom Shankar. It's also me, the person writing this blog. For my Mix n Match picks I had to style it around my favourite Queens block print from this winter, so I am wearing the Azure Boom Skivvy under the Mustard District Jumper, and teamed them with the Queens Grand Flares and Queens Grand Jacket. Another winter favourite of mine is the Moss Dreams Coatigan, which teams perfectly with the other pieces in this Mix n Match ensemble.

"The Queens suit is an absolute favourite this winter, and I am pretty much living in these pants all the time. They're lovely light weight, and fully lined, so I think they'll even be perfect all year round. The jacket is the same too. I adore the colour of the Azure Boom Skivvy and love the contrast with the pops of colour both the azure and mustard give off. I have also lived in the Moss Dreams Coatigan over the last two winters. It's so soft and warm and the colour goes with everything." ~ Ajanta

Georgie (above) is our Creative & Content Coordinator at Boom Shankar. Unfortunately Georgie didn’t get the memo about the Mustard District Jumper, but that’s ok, cause we love her and wanted her to still show you all what items she’s digging at the moment. For her Mix n Match picks, Georgie has chosen the Sage Boom Skivvy, layered underneath last years Sprinkle Plum Zita Jumper. She’s teamed it with the Forest Kent Wide Leg Pants that are made from our traditional block printed cotton. I could see the Mustard District Jumper looking great under the Sprinkle Plum Zita Jumper and would give that extra line of colour around the neck.

“This outfit has been a favourite of mine throughout Autumn and Winter. I’ve found myself gravitating towards the subtle greens this winter as it gives me a sense nature and earthiness. The sage of the Boom Skivvy and the Kent Wide Leg pant bring out the beautiful deep plum in the Sprinkle Plum Jumper allowing it to pop. What I love about the Sprinkle Plum jumper is it’s a boxier, oversized fit so super versatile and easy to wear other styles under. I wear the Kent Wide Leg pant in an 8 (I usually wear 10-12 in pants so check the sizing before purchasing), the Boom Skivvy and Sprinkle Plum Jumper in a 10. This is the perfect outfit for layering as the weather cools. I love adding fun pops of colour to my outfits, so for me, this is perfect outfit!” ~ Georgie
